Turbo Door 24" x 36"

At the opening of the Turban Snail’s shell, is trap door which is thick and solid like a rock. When the animal's body retracts into it's shell, the door seals the shell shut, protecting the snail against predators and from drying out.  At the end of the snail’s life, the door naturally detaches and sinks to the seabed. Often discovered in the shallow waters of Thailand and Indonesia, the rock door becomes a favorite "Cat's Eye gemstone" in jewelry, worn to ward off the evil eye.

Frame details: unframed on 1 ½ "profile canvas with painted sides, eliminating the need for framing altogether. If preferred, can be framed using a floater frame.
